The local area
Lake Chiusi
Lake Chiusi is a natural gem in the southern part of the Sienese Valdichiana. Together with Lake Montepulciano, it preserves the ancient memory of the vast marshland that once dominated the valley. A haven for legends and a hub of tradition, the lake has played a vital role in Chiusi’s history, as the town historically fought to claim ownership against neighboring Umbria. The two historic towers, “Beccati Questo” and “Beccati Quello,” mark the rivalry between Umbria and Tuscany and now serve as the boundary between the regions.
